I got asked to do a blog on eyeshadow shades and what colors go together and will compliment each other well for a cohesive makeup look. This is not only a great idea, but also can be confusing to a lot of people! Honestly, makeup is an art form, and if you think it looks well then that is wonderful!

For the purpose of this blog lets group some colors together that would work well to create looks!

Color Theory

Orange and Navy: Blue and orange are super stunning together if you like a bold color statement. Dust orange over your lid, and smudge a blue shade on your lower lash line for a dramatic and colorful look. Tip: Using a concealer brush to pack the blue shadow helps make a bigger "pop" for the shade.

Browns, Golds, and Yellows: These shades combine make for stunning warm vibes. Put a warm brown in the crease and outer corner, and a gold or yellow over 3/4 of your lid, line your lash line with brown and you have a stunning warm smokey eye that will be sure to wow anyone who sees it.

Dusty Rose and Taupe shades: I love this combo out of almost any combination out there for eyeshadow. I feel it is classy and super elegant. You can even add some glitter to the inner 1/3 of your lid for some extra pop, or in the center as well. Tip: Wet your brush with a setting spray for shimmer shades, they will apply more vibrant, or use your dry fingertips.

Red and black: These two shades offer a gorgeous vampy type look that can be elegant. Adding a touch of cold to the inner lash tine or even on your lid can add a subtly but fancy pop that is sure to turn heads whenever you sport the look.

There truly is no right or wrong way to use colors together, all you can do is try. You will be amazed at colors that would go well together. In case you are stuck here are just a few more colors that work well together: blues and greens, yellows and blues, yellows and greens, purples and orange, brown and purple, blue, purple, and pink. Now you have all these color combinations, stuck on some good palettes? No fear, I got you there too. Keep reading for a list of my favorite eyeshadow palettes.
